Joe Deshotel is a seasoned public affairs and campaign professional at the state and municipal level. He has developed deep policy expertise on issues involving the on-demand economy (at the intersection of transportation and technology).
Joe previously served as communications director to the Travis County Democratic Party, and Political Director to then Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell. He most recently served as Regional Director of Business
Development for rideshare firm Fasten (until their acquisition). Prior to that Joe was the Director of Community Engagement for RideAustin, a non-profit rideshare launched in 2016. In this role, he lead government relations and regulatory compliance efforts at the municipal and state levels, organized stakeholders, and served as spokesperson in addition to directing all communications including media appearances, press releases, social media and customer emails.
Joe maintains a highly trusted voice and makes regular appearances in local media and on industry panels including SXSW and the Shared-Use Mobility Summit. He currently serves as the Head of Public Affairs and Strategy for Mobilitaas a mobility-as-a-service consulting firm. In the community Joe serves as Austin Mayor Steve Adler's appointee to the Community Development Commission, where he is chair.
